# CSCH

Calculates the hyperbolic cosecant of a provided value.

## Syntax

```sql theme={"theme":{"light":"css-variables","dark":"css-variables"}}
CSCH(<value>)
```

## Parameters

| Parameter | Description | Supported input types |
| :- | :- | :- |
| `<value>` | The value that determines the returned hyperbolic cosecant. | `DOUBLE PRECISION` |

## Return Type

`DOUBLE PRECISION`

`CSCH` is the reciprocal of `SINH`, which is zero only at zero, so an argument of zero raises a division-by-zero error. A large argument gives an infinite hyperbolic sine, whose reciprocal is zero.

## Example

`CSCH` is `1 / SINH`, so at `LN(2)` it is `1 / 0.75`, or `4/3`:

<div className="query-window">
  ```
  SELECT CSCH(LN(2)) as result;
  ```

  | result <span>double</span> |
  | :- |
  | 1.3333333333333333 |

  <p><span>Rows: 1</span><span>Execution time: 5.21ms</span></p>
</div>

`CSCH` is odd, so a negative argument gives a negative result:

<div className="query-window">
  ```
  SELECT CSCH(-2) as result;
  ```

  | result <span>double</span> |
  | :- |
  | -0.2757205647717832 |

  <p><span>Rows: 1</span><span>Execution time: 5.21ms</span></p>
</div>
