# SINH

Calculates the hyperbolic sine of a provided value.

## Syntax

```sql theme={"theme":{"light":"css-variables","dark":"css-variables"}}
SINH(<value>)
```

## Parameters

| Parameter | Description | Supported input types |
| :- | :- | :- |
| `<value>` | The value that determines the returned hyperbolic sine. | `DOUBLE PRECISION` |

## Return Type

`DOUBLE PRECISION`

`SINH` is defined for every real argument. An argument whose hyperbolic sine overflows `DOUBLE PRECISION` raises an out-of-range error rather than returning infinity.

## Example

The hyperbolic sine of 0 is 0:

<div className="query-window">
  ```
  SELECT SINH(0) as result;
  ```

  | result <span>double</span> |
  | :- |
  | 0 |

  <p><span>Rows: 1</span><span>Execution time: 5.21ms</span></p>
</div>

At `LN(2)` the hyperbolic functions take exact rational values, which makes them easy to check by hand — `SINH(LN(2))` is `(2 - 1/2) / 2`:

<div className="query-window">
  ```
  SELECT SINH(LN(2)) as result;
  ```

  | result <span>double</span> |
  | :- |
  | 0.75 |

  <p><span>Rows: 1</span><span>Execution time: 5.21ms</span></p>
</div>
